Southern Tier Flooding 2011

As many of you may already know there have been a few hurricanes and storms ravaging the Northeast lately. I wont say many words and hope the pictures will speak for themselves. The pictures are not meant to be artistic, but rather just to point out the hopelessness that some people feel, and the sheer weight of material that people had to throw out of their homes after the following flooding from all the rain. For specifications, the much media followed 2006 flood in Binghamton New York was a big deal because it went above flood walls. This time the flood was even worse. The Susquehanna river rose more than 30 feet according to some reports, which was above the 2006 flood levels.

While out taking photographs for this blog, I came across a man named Jim (Above). Jim was out cleaning his house and taking all his belongings to the curb. Jim turned out to be a nice man who got stuck in the second round of flooding. Unfortunately Jim has yet to receive any funding or reimbursement from the first disastrous flooding that happened in 2006, and 2011 was even worse for him as the water rose 10 ft higher around his home than the last time and made it not just into the basement, but also into the first floor of his home. Jim even had to be taken out by marsh-boat from his home after trying to save it with water pumps, etc... Needless to say the water pumps couldn't keep up with the 60,000 gallons of water that filled his basement to the very top. Please keep all the victims of the flooding in your prayers, and help any way you can by donating blood to the Red Cross or Food to Chow, etc...

Film And Photography

Lately I've been exploring the abilities of a DSLR camera that I had purchased earlier in the year. I'm currently researching film techniques and photography information, and I'm pretty passionate about the subject. The reason for this is simple. I've never really been passionate about any one thing that was either a hobby or something I really wanted to succeed in. So far I've filmed a little bit of film from a family vacation to Florida, which was only the first week of owning my camera, you can find that here.

I've also filmed a music video recently, to showcase my improving work with film. But that's another story, for another time.

One thing that I've come across in the what I presume to be many avid video makers is that they tend to be very passionate about it. And you have to be! Because when you start to film things, you automatically start thinking about what it will look like when your finished, what is the point of your video, what are you trying to portray and who will be your intended audience. One video I recently stumbled across is proving one of my points. It shows people and the daily life of those people in Lebanon Egypt.

The point being that you need to show people something that they don't see in their everyday lifes. Something out of the ordinary, or so different its a world of difference, as in the lives displayed here in Egypt. The main point I want to convey is that I want to make videos that not only seem cool, or are made with all of today's technology, such as the kessler kranes in the next video, but also something that would capture people's imagination and or allow them to exhale with a "man we live in a awesome created world", or something that inspires people to make a change for the better.

Here is a little inspiration for you:

Enjoy! And dont forget to have a spirit of happiness today!

Rewarding those who help you.

Hey guys!

Just wanted to get this out there, because I know have been at the short end of the receiving stick many times and know how it can burn and sting. The thing is simple people reward those who help you. Of course this can refer to any area of help. Something's that come to mind are helping a friend, be it with moving, weekend project, or a professional service that you offer such as photography, web design, computer repair, or whatever your services may be. Again the reward doesn't have to always be monetary, you can offer someone lunch or offer to take them out somewhere to hang out, or barter a service of yours. Of course if your talking about a business contact that has helped out or went out of their way to accomplish their services for you, the reward would most likely always be monetary, as in a tip. Often times people will not expect this from you considering it was their job, etc... but when they do get surprised you can be sure that next time their services are needed you will be treated more like V.I.P. then walk-in customer.

Friends, just don't forget that this is something that goes both ways. Often times its easy for us to just be stuck on the fact that our friend has used us or our services and just expected it to be there for him without any compensation. But try to think of a way to reward those around you that help you as well, because you may be making someone feel just that way as well.

On a side note you obviously do not want to let a relationship, professional or friendship to become abusive from either end. If someone is expecting you to deliver free service on call, you need to let them know in the nicest way that your services are not free, and you need to make time for paying customers.

Well guys, hope this helps you all out in your dealings with others and allows you to grow more pleasant relationships with everyone you deal with. Now, time to go take my own advice ;)

On a side note check out my latest YouTube video about a family vacation I took when I just got my canon 60D camera. Hope you enjoy it. Let me know if you need any information from my photography or video-graphy escapades.

Enjoy Life

We all think we have a piece of advice we can offer to people. This is something we can all admit to thinking we are offering a snippet of genius that we are proud of coming up with by ourselves. So here I'am adding my own snippet of advice. lol ;p

If anything, just enjoy the simple things in life. Let things slide for once. Forgive your spouse/significant other. Let go of grudges and just live. After all the most important thing we have are our relationships with each other, otherwise we wouldn't want to exist. Try not let things get under your skin, and focus on things you truly love, and enjoy! Do some real living today.

In light of skipping music Friday's (I'm on vacation in Chicago with my little nieces and nephews), I'm posting one up today. Enjoy!

I'm working on a video project at the moment. It will be a compilation of all things "summer memories". This is something that is near and dear to me, as I seem to have a very deep connection with the sights, smells, feelings, and amaziness of summer, and I want to portray that somehow in a video. If you interested check out my channel on youtube, and subscribe for some cool videos coming soon, all filmed on DSLR.

What really matters?

*disclaimer: as some points in time, you may feel that this blog is my personal therapist. Just ignore that thought and press on. ;)

Well whenever I imagined myself writing a blog I always thought it would sound this way or that, but when I get down to it, it just doesn't sound as spectacular as I imagined. Anyway I'm taking time time off right now from work and I'm traveling from the northeast to Chicago to visit my sister. After reminiscing about old times, we again reconnected and engaged in a relationship building. Having a maxing heart to heart conversation with all my brother and sisters, hanging out and creating new memories with nieces and nephews, I again fell reconnected with life.

But this brings to the question of what really matters in life? I keep trudging to keep up with the rat race and running in circles of the debt/money cycle, and it seems never ending. But when I'm with the people I love, I honestly don't remember about any of my financial or daily living troubles. It alike having a two different lives and I don't know the one exists when I'm in the other. This is why I want to do things that I love such as videography, photography, and real estate, and of course hanging with the fams! This I believe would be ideal and the way that God actually designed us to live. God help me achieve as an ambitious goal. Good night y'all!

First words

Hi all, or whoever stumbles upon this blog. As the name implies I'm going to be posting from time to time without any prewritten form. The reason for this is simple. I've been thinking of starting a blog for awhile now but never got around to it. I have some thoughts which sometimes I think are genius. lol (rolling of eyes). But then when I look back and try to remember them I can't. So hopefully by writing it out I will be able to Make sense of things in my head and also remember it by the repetition of writing out my thoughts as well as having this record of them.

I'm not the most educated person, and neither do I think that you must be, to be a successful person. So excuse me ahead of time for any mistakes I make or inadvertently write into this blog.

Some things that I want to do with this blog include music Fridays and photo Tuesdays. I hope I can make this a visual presentation as well as a intellectually stimulating one. That way you won't be too bored.

Okay all, thanks for stopping by. Hopefully I can start posting things soon! It is a Tuesday so heres a pic! This is actually a picture of the building I worked in until January 2011 when it tragically caught fire. Located in Binghamton New York. Cool place, come check it out.
